About the Role

We are seeking a Workshop Leading Hand/Mechanical Fitter to oversee maintenance operations, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our specialist plant and equipment.

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, this role involves leading a team of Fitters, maintaining strong supplier relationships, and supporting site operations when required.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear daily direction and goals for workshop staff
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with HSEQ policies & safety standards
  • Lead, mentor & support workshop staff, fostering a strong safety culture
  • Attend project meetings and assist with pre-starts to enforce safety protocols
  • Manage maintenance schedules, work orders & inventory to optimise efficiency
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal teams, suppliers & subcontractors
  • Provide technical support and ensure work meets Keller’s quality standards

 

About You

  • Strong leadership & problem-solving skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team (CFMU experience desirable)
  • Trade-qualified Fitter (Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering)
  • Minimum 2 years of post-trade experience
  • Experience in heavy machinery, hydraulics, electrical systems (12/24V), CAN bus control systems
  • Industry experience in Piling, Drill & Blast, or Heavy Fitting
  • High risk work tickets: Forklift, Crane, Rigger, EWP, Dogman (desirable)
  • Travel and be on different work sites
  • Able to work full time, 5 AM starts, 70% hands on, 30% office based
