The Role

As a design engineer/senior design engineer, you will play a key role in conceptualising and delivering innovative geotechnical solutions, from the initial design to successful project delivery. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a dedicated team and be part of high-profile tier one projects within Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania

You will be responsible for:

  • Innovative design and estimating: Converting tender opportunities to won work by developing concept design solutions and detailed estimate for the project and engaging with the clients during the bid phase 
  • Project execution and support: Coordinate handovers with operations for seamless project delivery and ensure on-site design verification to maintain design verification
  • Sustainability: Champion sustainable practices across all project phases, seeking to minimise environmental impact and promote resource efficiency in collaboration with clients, suppliers, and the project team.
  • Client and stakeholder engagement: Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders to support project goals and drive repeat business from high priority clients
  • Continuous innovation and improvement: Stay at the forefront of industry standards, pursue professional development, and champion design improvements for excellence in quality and cost efficiency
  • Financial and commercial management: Produce accurate tender estimates, perform cost analysis, and track milestones for project profitability
  • Mentorship: As a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and shape the future of our industry through knowledge-sharing and development through our mentorship program

About you

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar position
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • In-depth knowledge of geotechnical principles, including soil mechanics and soil improvement systems
  • Familiarity with Australian design standards (AS2159-2009, AS600-2018, AS4100-2020) and experience with relevant design 
  • software (e.g., COLDES, RAPT, PIGLET, WALLAP, PLAXIS-2D)
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders
  • A proactive and self-motivated mindset, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
